Rio Preto-Jacundá REDD+ Project gains prominence in Verra’s website

About Verra:

Created in 2005, Verra is an organization internationally recognized for its expertise and technical excellence in certifying greenhouse gas emissions reduction projects and the positive social and environmental benefits generated by carbon projects. Carbon credits with Verra’s certification prove that the credits acquired by a company are in fact offsetting their carbon emissions.

To this end, the organization develops and manages the most recognized methodologies in the voluntary carbon market, which result in certification standards to assess the efforts of projects and programs. Among them we have VCS (Verified Carbon Standard), which qualifies projects to transform their reductions in greenhouse gas emissions into negotiable carbon credits, and CCBS (Climate, Community & Biodiversity Standard), which is a standard to evaluate projects that generate social benefits such as sustainable development of local communities and protection of biodiversity.

All REDD+ projects conducted by Biofílica use and follow the methodologies proposed by VERRA, and are certified by both programs mentioned above.

Among them, our Rio Preto-Jacundá REDD+ Project, in partnership with ASMOREX and Centro de Estudos Rio Terra, was highlighted in the organization’s website. There, we were invited to share how the activities developed by Biofílica and its partners impact on improving the quality of life of the extractivist communities and promote the monitoring of forest coverage and biodiversity.
