Jari Valley REDD+ Project Power grid reaches 59 families in Nova Conquista

The dream of 59 families that live in the community of Nova Conquista, in the municipality of Vitória do Jari, has just come true.
After the power supply grid was optimized, with the provision of 3,500 thousand meters of wires, cement posts and transformers, the public power grid reached their homes.

Projeto REDD+ Jari - Rede elétrica chega a 59 famílias de Nova Conquista

This great achievement was the result of the actions of Jari Valley REDD+ Project, a partnership between Biofílica and Jari Foundation, to meet the needs and promote the well-being of the residents of the region. Based on the resources from socio-environmental investments in carbon credits, it was possible to make the logistics of community mobilization viable, install an electrification network and provide technical assistance to the community.

In an area constantly threatened by human activity, the project’s work fosters the importance of forest conservation. In practice, the return to the local population of funds that result from keeping standing forests strengthens the idea that it is possible to develop the local economy in a sustainable manner.

The positive impact of investing in carbon credits proceeding from REDD+ Projects reflects much more than forest conservation; it also directly affects the quality of life of the communities. Learn how your company can make the difference.
